Jordan Henderson Joins Chelsea on Free Transfer From Brentford

England midfielder Jordan Henderson has joined Chelsea on a two-year deal after his contract with Brentford was mutually terminated, becoming the 10th new arrival at Stamford Bridge this summer.

The 36-year-old captained Liverpool to the Premier League title in 2019-20 and won the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup twice, the Uefa Super Cup and the Fifa Club World Cup during his time at Anfield, before spells at Al-Ettifaq, Ajax and, most recently, Brentford.

"Given the size of the club, the manager who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn't turn down," Henderson said of joining Xabi Alonso's rebuilding project.

Henderson's arrival caps a busy summer of incomings for Chelsea, who have also signed Morgan Rogers, Danny Welbeck, Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra and Geovany Quenda among others, after finishing 10th in the Premier League last season.

With Chelsea reshaping their squad so heavily under Alonso, Henderson's experience adds an intriguing veteran presence that could shift Playdash's Premier League top-six and title-race markets as the new season approaches.
