Pariphan Wongsa Scored Twice in Four Minutes as Thailand Came From Two Down to Beat Kyrgyzstan

Jehanafi Mama headed the goal that started the recovery at Toyota Stadium, where Thailand opened their Asian Games football campaign in Group A.

Thailand came from two goals down to beat Kyrgyzstan 3-2 in their opening Group A match of the men's football tournament at the Asian Games, played at Toyota Stadium in Aichi on 16 September 2026.

Kuduret Iskandarbekov put Kyrgyzstan ahead in the 23rd minute and Aitenir Balbakov made it 2-0 two minutes into the second half. Thailand responded through Jehanafi Mama, who headed in to reduce the deficit in the 55th minute.

Pariphan Wongsa then scored twice in the space of four minutes, in the 69th and the 73rd, to complete the comeback for the side coached by Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul.

The men's tournament is being played across venues in Aichi and Nagoya and began before the Games are formally opened on 19 September 2026. The top two teams in each group advance to the knockout stage.

Thailand next play Hong Kong at Toyota Stadium on 20 September 2026 and close their group against the hosts Japan on 23 September 2026. In Group C, Vietnam drew 1-1 with Kuwait in their opener, Ngoc My equalising in the 81st minute after Omar Al Matar had headed Kuwait in front, while Uzbekistan beat the Philippines 5-1.
