Diamond League Run-In Hits Lausanne, Chorzow and Zurich Before the Brussels Final on September 4

The 2026 Wanda Diamond League has two weeks left. The series began on 16 May, runs through 15 regular meetings, and settles in Brussels at the AG Memorial Van Damme final on 4 and 5 September.

The closing meetings

Athletissima in Lausanne is on 21 August. The Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzow follows on 23 August, and Weltklasse Zurich, historically one of the two meetings that hosted the final itself, is on 27 August.

Three meetings in seven days is the tightest block of the season, and it is where the qualifying places for Brussels are decided.

What the points are for

Thirty-two Diamond Disciplines run across the series. Athletes bank points at the regular meetings, and only those who finish high enough in their discipline's standings make the two-day final. Winning in Brussels, not leading the standings in August, is what makes a Diamond League champion.

The Diamond+ split

Each meeting nominates four events — two men's, two women's — as Diamond+ Disciplines. Those carry a doubled first prize of $20,000 at regular meetings, rising to $50,000 at the final.

The structure has a hard edge to it. Events that lose Diamond Discipline status drop to the World Athletics Continental Tour, which means less prize money and a smaller broadcast window, so the fight is not only between athletes.
