Maybank Championship 2026: Yamashita takes two-shot lead into final round as Mirabel Ting leads Malaysians

Miyu Yamashita is 18-under at KLGCC and two clear of Liu Yan and Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, while Mirabel Ting's 69 made her the top Malaysian.

Defending champion Miyu Yamashita takes a two-stroke lead into the final round of the Maybank Championship 2026 at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club. The Japanese player shot a 3-under 67 on Saturday (31 October) to reach 18-under 198. China's Liu Yan, who shot a 63, and France's Pauline Roussin-Bouchard are tied second on 16-under. Among the home players, Mirabel Ting moved ahead of Liyana Durisic as the best-placed Malaysian. The final round is under way on Sunday, and the result was not known when this was published.

Yamashita stays in front

Yamashita has gone 65-66-67 over three rounds and has not given up the lead she built by halfway. Her 67 on Saturday kept her two shots ahead of the field, the same margin she held after 36 holes.

Yamashita won this event in 2025 after a three-way play-off, so a win on Sunday would make her a back-to-back champion at KLGCC.

Liu Yan's 63 sets up a chase

Liu produced the round of the day. Her 9-under 63 included an eagle and nine birdies, against two bogeys, and took her from the chasing pack to a share of second. Roussin-Bouchard, who led after the first round, matched Yamashita's 67 to stay two back.

Two players sit at 14-under 202: Australia's Robyn Choi and Thai amateur Marisa Tojai, who is 17. A group of three, Aditi Ashok, Perrine Delacour and Julia Lopez Ramirez, are tied sixth on 12-under. Japan's Yuri Yoshida, who won the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea last week, is part of a four-way tie for ninth on 11-under. England's Charley Hull slipped to a share of 18th after a level-par 72.

Top of the leaderboard after 54 holes:

  1. Miyu Yamashita (Japan) -18 (198) T2. Liu Yan (China) -16 (200) T2. Pauline Roussin-Bouchard (France) -16 (200) T4. Robyn Choi (Australia) -14 (202) T4. Marisa Tojai (Thailand, amateur) -14 (202)

Mirabel Ting leads the Malaysian contingent

Mirabel Ting made seven birdies in a 3-under 69 and is now 4-under 212 (75-68-69), tied 43rd. That moved her ahead of Liyana Durisic, who was the top Malaysian at halfway but shot a 4-over 76 on Saturday and is level par (216), tied 61st.

Elsewhere among the Malaysians:

  • Natasha Oon: 70 on Saturday, 1-under 215, tied 58th
  • Kelly Tan: 74, 4-over 220, tied 73rd
  • Genevieve Ling: 75, 9-over 225, 76th

What the final round decides

With a two-shot lead and a strong record at this course, Yamashita is in the strongest position on Sunday, but Liu's low scoring on Saturday shows a big round is possible at KLGCC. The Maybank Championship is the third of four LPGA Tour events in the Asian swing, which finishes at the Toto Japan Classic next week.
