South Korea Beat Saudi Arabia Four One at BlizzCon to Win the Overwatch World Cup for the First Time Since Two Thousand and Eighteen
The Koreans lost the opening map on Nepal and then took four in a row, having come from two down against France in the semi-final earlier in the day.
South Korea beat the defending champions Saudi Arabia 4-1 in the Overwatch World Cup final at the Anaheim Convention Center in California on 13 September 2026, during BlizzCon.
Saudi Arabia took the opening map on Nepal. South Korea then won Neon Junction, New Junk City, Route 66 and Esperanca to close out the first-to-four series. On the deciding map, Stalk3r drove the payload to 106.46 metres.
Earlier the same day South Korea had come from 0-2 down to beat France 3-2 in the semi-finals, while Saudi Arabia beat Sweden. In the quarter-finals on 12 September, South Korea beat the United States 3-0, Saudi Arabia beat Spain 3-1, Sweden beat Germany 3-0 and France beat Australia 3-0. Saudi Arabia had dropped only one map before the final.
The group stage was played at the Busan Esports Arena in South Korea in late August, with sixty teams entering online qualifying and thirty reaching the main event, split into four round-robin groups feeding an eight-team knockout. It is South Korea's fourth Overwatch World Cup title and their first since 2018, and they now hold five medals in total, more than any other nation. Choi Su-min said it felt amazing to represent the country together and win.
