Women's T20 Asia Cup Starts August 28 in Dubai With India Meeting Pakistan on September 5
Eight teams, 15 matches and a single venue over 17 days. Sri Lanka defend the title they won in Dambulla in 2024, and India go in without Jemimah Rodrigues.
The Women's T20 Asia Cup runs 28 August to 13 September, with all 15 matches at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. It is the 10th Women's Asia Cup and the sixth played as a T20 competition.
Eight teams, two groups, one ground
Group A: India, Pakistan, Thailand, Hong Kong (China). Group B: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, UAE.
Each group plays a single round-robin, 12 matches in total, and the top two in each go through. Semi-finals are on 10 and 11 September and the final is on 13 September.
The four Full Members qualified automatically. Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand and the UAE came through the ACC Women's Premier Cup in Malaysia, which finished on 13 June.
A single venue over 17 days is worth noting for anyone reading conditions. Dubai's surfaces have historically slowed through a tournament, and with 15 matches on the same square, chasing sides late in the competition will not be playing the pitch the openers played.
The defending champions are not who most people think
Sri Lanka hold the title. They won their first Women's Asia Cup in 2024, beating India by eight wickets in the Dambulla final. Several listings still name India as holders; they are not.
India remain the dominant side historically with seven titles, but they arrive without Jemimah Rodrigues, ruled out of both the Asia Cup and the Asian Games. Harmanpreet Kaur captains with Smriti Mandhana as her deputy.
India v Pakistan, and what came before
The group fixture between India and Pakistan is on Saturday 5 September, 18:30 in Dubai and 20:00 IST. It is the only scheduled meeting unless both reach the knockouts.
The wider context is a busy women's calendar: Australia beat England by seven wickets at Lord's on 5 July to win the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in England, and the Asian Games men's and women's cricket tournaments follow in Japan from late September.
