Presidents Cup 2026 Reaches Medinah on September 24 With Six US Picks Still to Come and a 13-1-1 Series Record
Brandt Snedeker and Geoff Ogilvy take 12-man teams into 30 matches over four days at Medinah No. 3. Scheffler and Cameron Young have clinched for the US, and the International side has won the Cup once since 1994.
The Presidents Cup returns on 24-27 September at Medinah Country Club's No. 3 course, the first time the match has been played in the Chicago area. It is the 16th edition, and the International side has won it once in 15 attempts.
The format is the whole story
Twelve players a side contest 30 matches for 30 points: five on Thursday, five on Friday in the opposite format, eight on Saturday split evenly between four-ball and foursomes, and 12 singles on Sunday. A team needs 15.5 points to take the Cup outright.
That Sunday load matters. With 12 of 30 points on the last day, a Saturday-night deficit of three or four is recoverable in a way it rarely is at the Ryder Cup's identical singles count but different weekly rhythm.
Who is in, and who is still waiting
The US take the top six from FedExCup points banked between 1 January 2025 and the BMW Championship on 23 August 2026, then six captain's picks. Scottie Scheffler locked up the No. 1 spot by winning the FedEx St. Jude Championship, his 21st PGA Tour title, and Cameron Young has also clinched after a season that included the Players. Sam Burns, Russell Henley, Ben Griffin and Collin Morikawa filled out the automatic places as the window closed.
The International team takes its top six on world ranking after the Tour Championship on 31 August, excluding players eligible for the European Ryder Cup team, plus six picks. Si Woo Kim, Min Woo Lee, Hideki Matsuyama and Tom Kim headed that list through mid-July.
LIV players remain ineligible for a PGA Tour-run event, which keeps Cameron Smith, Joaquin Niemann and Marc Leishman out of Ogilvy's pool.
The record and the golf course
The US lead the series 13-1-1. Their 2024 win at Royal Montreal, 18.5-11.5, was a 10th consecutive victory, and the International side's only win came in 1998.
Medinah No. 3 plays 7,564 yards to a par of 72 after a 2024 redesign that widened fairways, enlarged greens and reworked the bunkering. The club joins Muirfield Village as the only US venue to have hosted both a Presidents Cup and a Ryder Cup.
Following it on Playdash
Playdash prices the Presidents Cup with outright team winner, winning margin bands, session and day handicaps, and top points scorer markets on both sides. Individual match prices go up for every four-ball, foursomes and singles pairing as they are announced, and roster markets on the captain's picks stay live until the teams are complete.
