MPL MY Season 18 playoffs: SRG and Team Rey get byes as six teams chase two M8 tickets
The MPL Malaysia Season 18 playoffs run from 28 October to 1 November at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara, with the top two earning spots at the M8 World Championship.
Six teams will contest the MPL Malaysia Season 18 playoffs at Stadium Juara in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, from Wednesday 28 October to Sunday 1 November. Two places at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M8 World Championship are at stake. Selangor Red Giants finished top of the regular season and Team Rey finished second, so both skip the opening round. The other four qualifiers have to win a knockout match first.
Final regular-season standings
The regular season was a double round robin of best-of-three matches played at Quill City Mall's convention centre from 14 August to 18 October. The final table:
- Selangor Red Giants: 11-3 (games 24-8)
- Team Rey: 10-4 (22-11)
- Team Vamos: 10-4 (22-14)
- Invictus Gaming: 7-7 (17-17)
- Bigetron MY by VIT: 6-8 (17-19)
- Team Flash: 5-9 (13-19)
- AC Esports: 4-10 (10-24)
- RRQ Tora: 3-11 (11-24)
Team Rey and Team Vamos finished level on match wins. Rey took second place on game difference (+11 against +8), and that decided which of the two received the bye. AC Esports and RRQ Tora are eliminated.
How the bracket works
The format is a hybrid. The teams seeded third to sixth play a single-elimination opening round, so Wednesday's losers go straight out. From the second round onwards the bracket is double elimination, which gives SRG and Team Rey a second chance if they lose their first match. Every series is best-of-five apart from the lower bracket final and grand final, which are best-of-seven.
The champions and runners-up both qualify for M8. The World Championship will be played in Türkiye, with the main event in Istanbul, the first time the M-Series has gone outside Southeast Asia.

The upper bracket final on Friday night is the key match for M8 qualification. Both of its teams are guaranteed a top-two finish, so both will have booked their M8 tickets before the weekend.
