France led at half-time in Berlin but were outscored thirty to twelve in the third quarter as the United States won 97-79 for a twelfth world title.
The United States beat France 97-79 in the final of the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup at the Uber Arena in Berlin on 13 September 2026, in front of 12,233 spectators.
France led 20-17 after the first quarter and 45-43 at half-time, and had been fourteen points ahead early in the second quarter before Caitlin Clark, making her World Cup debut, hit a buzzer-beating three to cut the gap to two. The United States then won the third quarter 30-12 and the fourth 24-22, outscoring France 54-34 after the interval.
Breanna Stewart scored 22 points with 10 rebounds and an efficiency rating of 30, and was named tournament most valuable player. She is the first player to win the award twice at a Women's World Cup. Jackie Young added 18 points, six rebounds and five assists. Dominique Malonga led France with 21 points and six rebounds, while Gabby Williams had seven assists.
It was a fifth consecutive World Cup title for the United States and a twelfth overall, extending their winning run at the tournament to 36 consecutive games. Spain beat Germany 81-58 in the bronze medal game on the same day.
