All Four Top Seeds Are in the Women's Semi-Finals for the First Time Since 1975 and Rybakina Is World Number One
Gauff plays Rybakina and Sabalenka plays Pegula in New York on Thursday, the first all-top-four women's semi-final line-up in 51 years.
The US Open women's semi-finals are Coco Gauff against Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka against Jessica Pegula, both played on Thursday 10 September. It is the first time since 1975 that all four top seeds have reached the last four at the tournament.
Rybakina secured the world number one ranking on the way, beating Zheng Qinwen 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the quarter-finals.
Gauff beat Mirra Andreeva 2-6, 7-6, 6-2. The scoreline understates how far the match turned: Gauff made forty unforced errors across the first two sets and two in the third.
Sabalenka and Pegula met in the 2024 final at Flushing Meadows, which Sabalenka won.
The women's final is on Saturday 13 September.
Day sessions on Arthur Ashe Stadium begin around noon in New York, which is midnight in Malaysia and Singapore and eleven at night in Thailand. Night matches run into the region's mid-morning, so the semi-finals are either a very late night or a working-hours stream depending on which session they land in.
