The Dodgers' only runs came from solo home runs by Max Muncy and Freddie Freeman. Michael Harris II tripled in the fifth and added an RBI double in the seventh. Manager Walt Weiss had held back Chris Sale, who is now lined up for Game 3 in Atlanta.

The Guardians led 2-1 when starter Gavin Williams, who struck out 11 in five innings, was lifted after a leadoff single in the sixth. Reliever Erik Sabrowski issued a walk and a wild pitch before Braden Montgomery hit a two-run double. Japan's Munetaka Murakami had driven in a run earlier with a single, and Grant Taylor got the final four outs.
In the other ALDS, the Tampa Bay Rays won Game 1 against the New York Yankees 1-0 on Saturday. The teams met again on Monday night with Cam Schlittler starting for New York and Freddy Peralta for Tampa Bay.
