Shafali Verma Hit Sixty-Four From Forty Balls as India Beat Bangladesh by Forty Runs to Reach the Women's Asia Cup Final
India beat Bangladesh by 40 runs in the Women's Asia Cup semi-final in Dubai, with Shafali Verma scoring 64 and Deepti Sharma taking three wickets.
India are through to the final of the 2026 Women's T20 Asia Cup after beating Bangladesh by 40 runs in the first semi-final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 10 September.
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field, but Shafali Verma gave India a strong platform with 64 from 40 balls, including three sixes. Harmanpreet Kaur added 24, Richa Ghosh made 21 from 16 balls and Pratika Rawal scored 20 as India reached 149 for six from their 20 overs. Deepti Sharma provided late acceleration with 13 from a handful of deliveries.
On a slow pitch that has produced low scores throughout the tournament, Bangladesh never threatened the target and finished on 109. Deepti Sharma took three for 26, Shree Charani took one for 14 and Prema Rawat one for 21. Dilara Akter top-scored for Bangladesh with 21.
Deepti's three wickets took her to 11 in the tournament, the most by any bowler. India have won the Asia Cup seven times, four times in the one-day format and three times in the T20 format, and this is their sixth T20 Asia Cup final.
The second semi-final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan is scheduled for 11 September, with the winner meeting India in the final on 13 September.
