Japan Beat South Korea Three Nil to Reach the Asian Games Women's Volleyball Final Against China

Na Hyun-soo top-scored for South Korea with fourteen points but no team-mate reached double figures, while four Japanese players did.

Hosts Japan beat South Korea 3-0 in the women's volleyball semi-finals of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games at Park Arena Komaki, just north of Nagoya, on 21 September 2026, winning 25-22, 25-22, 25-16.

South Korea stayed close in the opening set but, trailing 14-13, fell further behind as Japan produced an ace and a series of blocks. The Koreans briefly led in the second set before slipping to 21-19 and, after recovering a couple of points from 23-19 down, could not complete the comeback.

In the third set South Korea conceded four straight points in one stretch to trail 12-6. They cut the gap to 13-11 but got no closer as Japan closed out the match in straight sets.

Na Hyun-soo scored a team-high 14 points for South Korea, but no one else in the side reached double figures. Japan had four players in double digits.

South Korea had gone unbeaten through the group phase and eliminated Kazakhstan in the quarter-finals. They are chasing a first Asian Games women's volleyball gold since 2014 and missed the podium at the 2023 Games.

Japan advance to the gold-medal match against China, who beat Thailand 3-2 in the other semi-final. South Korea were scheduled to play Thailand for the bronze medal at 4pm local time on 22 September.
