Melissa Jefferson-Wooden won the women's 200m at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest on 13 September 2026 in 21.47, a personal best and a world lead for the season.
The result completed an American sweep of the medals. Gabrielle Thomas was second in 21.77 and Kayla White third in 21.93. Jefferson-Wooden had already won the 100m earlier in the championship in 10.62, ahead of Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia in 10.74 and Sha'Carri Richardson of the United States in 10.76.
With each title carrying 150,000 US dollars, the double was worth 300,000 dollars. The championship distributed a total purse of 10 million dollars across 28 events at the National Athletics Centre between 11 and 13 September.
The United States finished top of the medal table with 10 gold, seven silver and 10 bronze. Italy were next with two golds, while the hosts Hungary took a single silver through Bence Halasz in the hammer. The championship is an invitational meeting held every two years, with track fields capped at 16 athletes and field events at eight.
