Scofield Has Stepped Away, Xtreme Gaming Are Down to One Player and the Shuffle Is Not Finished
A fortnight of Dota 2 roster moves that runs past Falcons and keeps going, with Virtus.pro disbanding after a third missed International.
The Dota 2 shuffle that followed The International has kept moving through the past fortnight, and not only at the top.
On 7 September PlayTime said Elvis "Scofield" Pena is taking an indefinite break from competition. The org said it respects and supports the decision. No replacement has been named.
On 5 September GamerLegion released Daniel "Ghost" Kok Hong, who had joined only in March.
On 4 September four players left Xtreme Gaming, leaving Wang "Ame" Chunyu as the only name still on the roster.
On 30 August Yakult Brothers moved Li "Xiang Yu" Longwu out and brought Xiang "Beyond" Zhenghong in. On 29 August Team Resilience let Lin "planet" Hao go to free agency and signed He "TK" Boyi.
The heaviest one came on 25 August. Virtus.pro disbanded the roster of Timado, Abed, SaberLight, Hellscream and Fly after a third straight year of missing The International. They lost the upper bracket qualifier 1-2 to Team Vision and then the lower bracket decider 1-2 to HULIGANI. The organisation says it is staying in Dota 2.
On 23 August Aui_2000 retired after roughly a decade, most recently as a coach. On 16 August Vici Gaming disbanded following their own exit.
Team Falcons leaving the game entirely on 6 and 7 September is the biggest domino, but the churn underneath it started earlier and has not stopped.
