Premier League Confirms Key Dates for 2026/27 Season

The Premier League has confirmed the key dates fans need to know for the 2026/27 season, with the new campaign starting a week later than usual to allow players extra recovery time following this summer's World Cup.

The season kicks off with Friday Night Football as defending champions Arsenal host newly-promoted Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium on August 21. Before that, Arsenal face FA Cup winners Manchester City in the traditional curtain-raiser, the Community Shield, at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on August 16.

The final round of fixtures will be played on Sunday, May 30 2027, with all ten games kicking off simultaneously, a week ahead of the Champions League final. The campaign will run across 33 weekends plus five midweek match rounds, and Sky Sports will broadcast at least 215 live Premier League games as part of a wider slate of more than 1,500 live matches across English and Scottish football.

The league has also pledged that no two match rounds will fall within 60 hours of one another over the busy Christmas and New Year period, an attempt to ease the fixture congestion created by the expanded international calendar.
