Parnasse Stops Hooker in the First Round on Debut and Three Paris Fights Ended Inside a Round

Salahdine Parnasse won his first UFC fight at the Accor Arena on Saturday. A body kick started it and a left hook ended it.

Salahdine Parnasse made his UFC debut at the Accor Arena in Paris on Saturday night and finished Dan Hooker in the first round.

The sequence was a body kick that hurt Hooker, a high kick behind it, and a left hook that put him down, with the referee stepping in there. The finish is timed at 2:25 by the UFC and 2:35 by at least one wire report, a ten-second disagreement about a fight that did not last three minutes.

Parnasse arrived as a former two-division KSW champion, which is a serious credential and not a UFC one. He asked for a top-five opponent next and named Max Holloway as the fight he wants. Neither of those things is in his gift.

The co-main event was also French and also short. Axel Sola knocked out Fares Ziam with an overhand left at 1:40 of the first. Losene Keita knocked out Muhammad Naimov at 2:54 of the first. Three of the six main-card fights ended inside a round.

The three that went to the judges did not all go the same way. Michael Page beat Nursulton Ruziboev 29-28 on all three cards. Daniil Donchenko beat Punahele Soriano with two 30-27s for an eighth straight win. Kurtis Campbell submitted Trevor Peek with a rear-naked choke at 3:07 of the third, the first time anybody has finished Peek.
