Team Liquid Swept FlyQuest Three Nil to Return to the League of Legends World Championship

Argentine jungler Brandon Villegas was player of the series and will play at Worlds for the first time since 2020 after Liquid missed last year's event.

Team Liquid beat FlyQuest 3-0 in the second round of the LCS Summer 2026 playoffs on 20 September 2026 in Los Angeles, securing a place at this year's League of Legends World Championship.

Liquid dominated the opening 15 minutes of the first two games, averaging five kills in that period of each. Jungler Brandon "Josedeodo" Villegas was named player of the series after a strong early game that included a 980 gold lead at 14 minutes in the second game.

The win returns Liquid to Worlds after they missed the 2025 championship. For Josedeodo it ends a six year wait, having made his only previous appearance at the 2020 event with Rainbow7.

Liquid will now face Cloud9 in the upper bracket final on 27 September at the LCS finals weekend in Atlanta, with a win there guaranteeing a direct place in the World Championship and avoiding the play in stage. Cloud9 reached that match by beating top seeds LYON 3-1 on 19 September, with Park "Thanatos" Seung-gyu finishing 18-5-24.

The top three teams in the playoffs qualify for Worlds. LYON dropped into a lower bracket semi-final on 26 September, while FlyQuest continue in the lower bracket against Shopify Rebellion. The fourth and fifth placed teams earn invitations to the Demacia Cup Global Invitational in China.
