Movistar KOI Confirmed Mid Laner Jojopyun Will Remain With the Team Through Two Thousand and Twenty Seven
The Canadian mid laner, the first North American to win an LEC title, signed a one year extension days after Movistar KOI lost the LEC Summer final to G Two Esports.
Movistar KOI announced on 22 September 2026 that mid laner Joseph "Jojopyun" Joon Pyun has extended his contract with the Spanish organisation until the end of 2027, ending speculation over his future.
The club confirmed the one-year extension on X with the message: "There's still a lot of story left to write." No financial terms were disclosed.
The decision comes two days after Movistar KOI were swept 3-0 by G2 Esports in the LEC Summer 2026 grand final. In the Summer Split, the 21-year-old Canadian played 37 games with a 3.92 KDA and 65.2 per cent kill participation, according to Dot Esports.
Jojopyun made history in 2025 when Movistar KOI won the LEC Spring Split, becoming the first North American player to lift an LEC trophy. Across 2026 he played more than 100 games, including international events.
The extension keeps a core in place alongside Elyoya, Álvaro, Supa and Myrwn, with Dot Esports reporting that the organisation intends to keep the lineup together heading into the new contract cycle.
With Jojopyun's future settled, Movistar KOI can focus on the rest of the offseason as other LEC contracts expire in November, while the 2026 World Championship begins on 15 October at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles.
