Shafali Verma Hit Sixty Eight From Twenty Four Balls as India Won the Women's Asia Cup by Seventy Two Runs
India posted 183 for five in Dubai and bowled Sri Lanka out for 111, with Shree Charani and Deepti Sharma taking three wickets each for a record eighth title.
India beat Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final of the Women's Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 13 September 2026 to win the tournament for a record eighth time.
India won the toss, batted and made 183 for five from their twenty overs. Shafali Verma struck 68 from 24 balls and Smriti Mandhana passed fifty from 35 balls for her thirty sixth Twenty20 half-century. Harmanpreet Kaur made 14 from 11, Richa Ghosh 17 and Gunalan Kamalini 15 not out. Mandhana and Verma recorded their sixth century opening stand in Twenty20 cricket.
Sri Lanka were bowled out for 111 inside their twenty overs. Shree Charani took three for 20 from four overs and Deepti Sharma three for 19 from four, with Kranti Gaud, Verma and Rawat taking one each.
Both teams had gone into the final unbeaten. Sri Lanka were the defending champions, having beaten India in the 2024 final. India had won 25 of their 31 previous Twenty20 internationals against Sri Lanka, including nine of the last ten. Earlier in the tournament, on 5 September at the same ground, India beat Pakistan by seven wickets.
