India Women Thrashed Sri Lanka by One Hundred and Forty-Seven Runs to Retain Asian Games Cricket Gold
Smriti Mandhana struck seventy-nine off forty-five balls as India posted two hundred and sixteen for three, before Sri Lanka collapsed to sixty-nine all out in the final.
India retained the Asian Games women's cricket title on 22 September 2026, beating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and chose to bat, and India's top order made the most of it. Smriti Mandhana top-scored with 79 off 45 balls, Shafali Verma added 48 and Richa Ghosh finished unbeaten on 49 from 22 balls as India posted 216 for three from their 20 overs.
The 147-run margin underlined India's dominance on the day. Sri Lanka never threatened the target and were bowled out for 69 in 15.4 overs. Deepti Sharma led the attack with three for six, while Shafali Verma, Shree Charani and Shreyanka Patil took two wickets each.
The victory gave India their first gold medal of the Aichi-Nagoya Games and a second successive women's cricket title, following their win over Sri Lanka in the final at Hangzhou in 2023.
Cricket's attention at the Games now moves to the men's competition, while India's wider contingent continues its medal push across the remaining events in Aichi and Nagoya.
