Perfect World Confirmed Shanghai Will Stage the Second Counter Strike Major of Next Year

The Chinese organiser returns to the city that hosted its 2024 Major, while Buenos Aires will stage the first Major of 2027.

Chinese organiser Perfect World confirmed on 15 September 2026 that Shanghai will host the second Counter-Strike 2 Major of 2027. The tournament is scheduled to run from 22 November to 12 December 2027.

According to HLTV, the Major will be played across four stages with an expected prize pool of US$1.25 million. The city was confirmed through Perfect World's official social media channels, two days after the company used a post marking its ninth anniversary to reveal that China would host the event, as reported by Dust2.us.

Perfect World previously staged the Shanghai Major in 2024, when Team Spirit beat FaZe in the grand final to win their first Major title. Dust2.us noted that the 2024 event drew strong crowds despite the challenging time zone for much of its audience.

The first Major of 2027 will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, by organiser FiReSPORTS. With both 2027 Majors outside the continent, Europe will not host a Major in a calendar year for the first time in the history of Counter-Strike. BLAST and ESL have already won the bids to run Majors in 2028.

Asia will also stage the next Major on the calendar, with the PGL Major Singapore 2026 scheduled for later this year. That gives the region Majors in consecutive years, with Singapore followed by Shanghai at the end of 2027.
