Shin Yu-bin and Kim Dong-yong Will Carry South Korea's Flag at the Asian Games Opening Ceremony
The table tennis player and the rower were named on Thursday, two days before the Games open at Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya.
South Korea named table tennis player Shin Yu-bin and rower Kim Dong-yong as its flag bearers for the opening ceremony of the Asian Games, in an announcement reported on 17 September 2026.
The ceremony takes place on 19 September 2026 at Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya. The Games run until 4 October 2026 and feature 46 delegations competing across 469 medal events in 43 sports.
Shin is entered in the singles, doubles, team and mixed doubles table tennis events in Japan. She won four medals at the last Asian Games in Hangzhou and took bronze at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Kim has 17 years of national team experience behind him and will row in the double sculls and the quadruple sculls. The Korean Sport and Olympic Committee also named archer Kim Woo-jin and shooter Lee Bo-na as the delegation's captains.
Several sports began before the ceremony, among them the men's football tournament, and the first medal events are due to be decided on 20 September 2026. Six sports make their Asian Games debut at these Games, including freestyle BMX, mixed martial arts, padel and surfing.
