Inter Came From Two Goals Down to Beat Udinese Five Three at the San Siro in an Eight Goal Monday Night
James Abankwah scored on his Serie A debut and Udinese led inside sixteen minutes, but Inter replied with five and stayed perfect after four matches.
Inter came from two goals down to beat Udinese 5-3 at the San Siro on 14 September 2026, keeping a perfect record of four wins from four in Serie A.
James Abankwah headed Udinese in front in the ninth minute on his Serie A debut and Jurgen Ekkelenkamp made it two in the 16th. Carlos Augusto pulled one back in the 26th with a left-footed shot from around twenty yards and Nicolo Barella equalised in the 35th. Marcus Thuram put Inter ahead in the 57th, Francesco Pio Esposito made it four in the 67th and Ange-Yoan Bonny five in the 79th before Idrissa Gueye scored for Udinese at the end.
Keinan Davis was booked for Udinese in the 45th minute and Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Inter in the 60th. Inter had rotated after a midweek Champions League defeat at Real Madrid, and John Stones made his first start for the club before going off injured in the second half.
Inter lead Serie A on fourteen goals scored in four games, though they have also conceded eight. They share top place with Roma, who won 2-0 at Torino on the same night through Donyell Malen in the 40th minute and Niccolo Pisilli in stoppage time. Como beat Parma 2-1 at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
The Inter head coach Cristian Chivu said the display showed the team's qualities and that they could score a lot of goals and keep a high level. Asked about conceding eight in four matches he said that if he were not worried he would not be a coach, that this was modern football with a great deal of intensity, and that he liked this way of playing even if it meant taking risks.
