Twenty Year Old Jacopo Matticari Gave Monticelli Their First Monselice Quintana Win Since Two Thousand and Five

Both finalists speared all three rings, and the rider from Narni in Umbria took the title on time after a weekend Monticelli dominated.

Jacopo Matticari, a 20 year old rider from Narni in Umbria, won the quintana at the 41st Giostra della Rocca in Monselice, near Padua, on 20 September 2026, giving the Monticelli district its first victory in the joust since 2005.

Matticari, riding in Monticelli's red and black colours, met Alessandro Culatore of San Giacomo in the final. Both riders captured all three rings, and Matticari's faster time settled the title, according to Terni in Rete, which reported that the rider had no rivals on the night.

It was Matticari's third podium finish at the Venetian event. At home in Narni he rides for the stable of the Terziere Santa Maria district, which competes in the town's own ring joust.

The win completed a dominant festival for Monticelli. Il Mattino di Padova reported that the district also won the drum competition, the historical procession and the messengers' race, and that the joust victory set off celebrations with drums rolling and supporters crowding around the young rider.

The Giostra della Rocca ran from 11 to 20 September and is one of several historical jousts and palios held across northern and central Italy in September, with the Cocconato donkey palio in Piedmont next on the calendar on 27 September.
